Preparing for a fashionable Fall!

By cecilycecily | January 07, 2012

It might seem ludicrous to think about Fall trends while we are amidst the semi-blistering Aussie Summer – however I assure you, winter clothes will be in stores soon enough and you must be prepared.

The Fall 2011 shows revived some of my favourite trends in an exceptionally innovative – dare I say – fashion.

Of these trends, I’m going to share with you my favourites, and deliver a heads up on what to look for when you hit the stores this winter!

Travelling in Style

By brentderepas | December 04, 2011

It’s clearly no news that air travel just isn’t what it used to be. Long gone are the glamour days of being greeted by fabulous models/actresses/air hostesses with little pill box hats and silk scarfs as you carried on over-sized bags of beauty products and the extra ten outfits that you think might come in handy (but in reality simply served as sparkly comfort blankets). Modern day flight, however, is geared towards tighter security restrictions and luggage limits; forcing us to critically - and mercilessly - think about what to take away and what to leave behind.

Ready, Steady... GO! Sprinter is Here!

By brentderepas | August 09, 2011

Crudely moving in and making herself at home, Winter - like ‘those’ relatives we only see once a year - has been a lesson in tolerance as she always seems to be. And, yes, while winter does bring with her beautiful fashion in the form of my favourite leather jacket; it’s no secret we have a love-hate relationship.

Zara - The Spanish Retail Armada & The New World Order

By brentderepas | July 13, 2011

You know that iconic scene from Independence Day, when the massive UFO’s dramatically descend down all over Earth from the monolithic Mothership strategically planning the invasion from the outer spheres? Within hours the world was on the brink of a full blown take-over. Now, be it life imitating art or not, but the world is once again on the brink of takeover –only this time by the Spanish Retail Armada; known only as, Zara... and we don’t want Will Smith even trying saving us.

Models Inc

By brentderepas | April 11, 2011

It’s six o’clock in the morning and we’re down at Byron Bay shooting swimwear – sounds like a blessed life, right? Well it is – because it’s the middle of winter, the sun isn’t even up yet and we’re rugged up in scarfs, leather jackets and warm wooly knits. The same, however, can’t be said for the beautiful leggy blond who gasps at the skimpy crotched bikini she will be wearing in 45 minutes time while splashing and wading in freezing Byron Bay shallows at sunrise.

Australian Style

By brentderepas | April 04, 2011

Most of us know how to live, but not too many know how to live well; and there is a world of difference between the two – and the difference is style... Style is not like anything else held in societies cache, including beauty, brains, breeding or billions in the bank. Style cannot be bought, sold or bartered, but it can be acquired, so long as you know where to look. But what defines our country’s style? Is it exotic animal skins, a certain colour palate, a boldness akin to our former PM Hawke or a sense of equality and oneness spanning across a myriad of socio-economic groups?

Nicola Formichetti Was Born This Way

By brentderepas | March 28, 2011

GaGa. She’s the blue cheese of fashion. You either love her or hate her; and the man behind her latest aesthetic isn’t all that all that different. Nicola Formichetti, creative director of the Mugler label has joined forces with the style juggernaut to bring together a true reflection of collaboration – a project that is clearly larger than the simple sum of its parts.

Clothes Maketh The Man

By brentderepas | March 14, 2011

Clothes maketh the man. Wiser words have never passed the lips of any stylist, or, for that fact, anyone worth their weight in business. It such a simple concept, and one that turns profits; yet it seems it’s a concept that increasingly hard to understand by many of the corporate folk out there. From ill fitting and unflattering suits, scuffed and dated shoes, shiny polyester business shirts with clashing ties to the dreaded washable suit – crimes against fashion, and your career progression, are being committed on a cataclysmic scale.

Brief Moments of Intimacy

By brentderepas | January 31, 2011

Valentines day cliché traditions pervade everywhere – think polyester lace, heart-shaped anything and everything, overpriced (or even worse synthetic) roses and little stuffed plush cupids tugging at flaccid bows... but truely, it doesn't have to be this way.

In today's equal opportunity world, valentine gifts are no longer only the plague of men desperately searching for something romantic to impress their special lady – men now too are being spoilt rotten, and rightly so.

Caramel – the new black!

By cecilycecily | September 16, 2010

Now the days are really warming up and it is safe to say that the winter woolies can finally be packed away for the year! But while Spring delivers those perfectly warm days that we all absolutely adore, the evening can still get that little bit cooler and a jacket is sometimes needed.
